Maturana Blanca
Variety of Spanish origin, grown mainly in La Rioja. It has a very small, medium-compact cluster and a small, spheroidal berry. This vine of average-high vigour and upright growth habit is suitable for short pruning and systems that avoid excessive cluster exposure. It has an medium-early budburst period and is susceptible to botrytis as well as downy and powdery mildew. Also susceptible to wind; the clusters are susceptible to sunburns. The variety, with its good rusticity, is adaptable to well-exposed soils. The yield is average-low, and the ripening period is early. It produces yellow-greenish wines with a certain oxidative tendency, high alcohol content and high acidity. Characterized by fruity (apple, peach) and herbaceous aromas; medium body and medium structure.
