Greco Bianco
It has been cultivated in Calabria since ancient times and it has evidently been imported with the other “Greek” vines from Greece. It has a medium-large, truncated-conical cluster, often with two wings, of medium compactness, a medium, sub-ovoid berry of golden yellow colour, thick skin and a juicy pulp of simple taste. This vigorous and very productive vine with average bud-bursting period is adaptable to more or less expanded training systems and long or short pruning. It has an average ripening period and is greatly resistant to parasites. The grape can be vinified alone or blended with other white grapes (Montonico, etc.) or black grapes (Gaglioppo) to produce different wines. Mono-varietal vinification produces a wine of golden yellow colour, harmonious, warm, slightly acid, with a delicate bouquet. Blended with other grapes and with a slight aging, it gives birth to an excellent liqueur wine.
