White variety from Catalunia, abundantly grown in the Penedès, also widespread in the Campo de Terragona, Alella and the Ribera del Ebro. Also known as Catuja blanca, Cartoixá or Pansal.

Bud-burst period: medium-early.
Ripening period: medium-late.
the bud has open greenish-whitish apex. The leaf is large, with three or five-lobes and a close V-shaped petiolar sinus. The cluster is medium-small and little compact. Medium, round and quite thick skin.
vine of good vigour and semi-upright growth habit. Very rustic variety, it adapts well to most soils, but it favours fertile and deep ones.
Training system and pruning:
it prefers long pruning, as the basal buds are not very fertile.
Susceptibility to diseases and adverse conditions:
little susceptible to botrytis, susceptible to powdery and downy mildew and coulure. Susceptible to rainfall and sudden temperature drops during the bud-burst period.
it produces fresh and fruity (apple, lemon, grapefruit), balanced and full-bodied wines, it is used together with Macabeo and Parellada in the elaboration of sparkling and table wines, lending structure.
