The Rootstocks
As we know, the rootstock, which came about as a defense against phylloxera, has taken an intermediary role between the soil and climate conditions and the characteristics of the fruit-bearing variety. As a response to this specific demand, Vivai Cooperativi Rauscedo produce over 700 different variety/rootstock combinations every year, so that to provide winegrowers with a product that best meets their needs.
It is worth pointing out that all the propagation blocks assigned to rootstock production are grown using clone materials (base category) mostly from original VCR selections. In 2015, thanks to the agreement concluded with Winegraft, Vivai Cooperativi Rauscedo obtained the worldwide exclusive for the diffusion of M-rootstocks: these rootstocks are the result of the breading program put in place by the University of Milan and they stand out for a greater rusticity, higher resistance to limestone and salt as compared to the traditional ones.
