Viosinho
Variety from Portugal cultivated mainly in the Douro region. Also cultivated in Alentejo and Azores. It has a small cluster of medium compactness holding a small, ellipsoidal berry with hard-to-detach seeds. Averagely vigorous and almost upright growth habit, it is susceptible to powdery mildew and averagely susceptible to downy mildew. It is adaptable to different types of soils and to very different environments, from those drier and warmer to those cooler. The variety gives a good yield with an early ripening period. It produces straw-yellow wines with medium acidity, very alcoholic, good structure and good aromatic intensity. Suitable for young consumption as well as for long aging. Also used in the production of liqueur wines.
