Bud-burst period: early.
Ripening period: late.
Yield: copious and constant. To obtain a good quality product, the number of buds per plant should not be excessive.
Ampelographic characters:

a fairly homogeneous variety, it slightly differs in cluster shape, length and compactness. The bud has a medium, cottony, whitish-yellow apex with pink shades, large, rounded, three-lobed, dark green, slightly blistered leaves that are slightly cottony on the underside. The petiolar sinus is open and V-shaped. The cluster is medium-long, pyramid-shaped, winged and semi sparse, with a vinous-red peduncle. The berry is medium-sized, almost ellipsoid, and blue-black in colour; often withered at the end of the cluster. The skin is rather thin and pruinose; the flesh is juicy and acidic, with a simple flavor. The rachis is easily detachable.

Cultural aptitude:

vigorous vine with a drooping growth habit and medium-long shoots with long internodes. In fresh and fertile soils, grapes do not often ripen. It prefers good exposures.

Training system and pruning:

it needs medium or expanded training systems and long pruning. An adequate green pruning is essential for the complete ripening of the grapes. It doesn’t easily adapt to systems for full mechanisation.

Susceptibility to diseases and adverse conditions:

slightly susceptible to powdery mildew and rachis desiccation. Good resistance to winter cold, not so resistant to late frosts.

Enological potential:

it produces wines of an intense ruby red colour, tannic, not very alcoholic, with vinous and fruity, slightly herbaceous, distinctive scents. Refined with a brief ageing, it takes on highly valuable scents and flavours.

Clones in propagation:

Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso VCR14, VCR473, ISVF1, ISVF4T, ERSAFVG400, ERSAFVG401, ERSAFVG402, ERSAFVG403.
