Piquepoul Blanc
A white mutation of Piquepoul Noir, it is native to the Languedoc region (France), where it is grown under the name of Piquepoul blanc. Also grown in Spain, in the Pla de Bages area. It has a large cluster and a medium-sized, elliptical berry. It has a high vigour and an medium budburst period. It is susceptible to botrytis. It requires growing areas warm enough to complete the cycle. It prefers short pruning due to its high fertility. Variety of high yield, it has a late ripening period (3rd epoch). In suitable soils it produces well-structured wines of excellent aromatic complexity, suitable for aging in wood.
