Ripening period: everage.
Yield:excellent and constant.
Ampelographic characters:
the variety is quite homogeneous, the main differences being fertility and cluster shape, both often depending on the choice of growth environments. The bud has an expanded apex, downy and light green with pink shades. The large, pentagonal, three- or five-lobed leaves are slightly wavy, smooth, of an intense green colour and almost glabrous. The petiolar sinus is open and U-shaped. The cluster is large, pyramidal, winged and semi-sparse. The medium-sized round golden-yellow berry in covered in a thick and consistent skin. The flesh is loose, with a simple or slightly aromatic-sweet flavor.
Cultural aptitude:
moderately vigorous vine with a semi-upright growth habit and medium long internodes. It adapts to all types of soil and climates, provided they are generally warm. Good drought resistance.
Training system and pruning:
favors medium training systems and medium-long pruning. Due to its rusticity, it is also a very adaptable vine. Systems for full mechanisation are therefore also possible.
Susceptibility to diseases and adverse conditions:
normal. Good resistance to winter cold and late frosts.
Enological potential:
it gives wines of a deep straw-yellow colour, slightly scented, savoury and bitter. It is often vinified together with other grapes, because only in its traditional growing areas it can produce a harmonic, distinctive and fairly refined product.
Clones in propagation:
Malvasia Bianca di Candia R2, TEA26.
Clones undergoing homologation procedure:
Malvasia Bianca di Candia VCR404, VCR493.
