Greco B. (di Tufo)

it has a globose, cottony bud apex, whitish green with yellowish edges. The leaves are medium sized, orbicular and three-or five-lobed. The petiolar sinus is open and U-shaped. The edges are slightly guttered, with revolute lobes. It is glabrous on the upper side and spider-like with tufts of hair on the underside. The cluster is small-to-medium-sized and compact, with a conical shape and a wing that is highly developed to form almost a double cluster. The small, spheroidal berry has an averagely pruinose, thin and tender skin of a yellowish-grey colour, covered with brownish spots.

vine of medium vigour, with an upright growth habit. It adapts to deep, loose and fresh soils of volcanic origin. In calcium carbonate-rich soils, it gives wines of greater finesse.

due to its vigour and to its long internodes, it is better at ease with long and rich pruning. Among the espalier systems, Guyot is preferred. Repeated green pruning and tying are necessary.

it is not particularly susceptible to downy mildew and powdery mildew, but it may suffer with botrytis during rainy autumns.

golden-yellow, agreeable wine with intense floral scents, slightly tannic. Medium alcohol content and good fixed acidity. Greco di Tufo is normally vinified as a single variety, even with short-to-medium aging.
