Ampelographic characters:
the bud has an expanded, hairless, intense green apex, apical leaflets slightly folded; the apical leaflets are green with bronze-colored shades and translucent. The leaf is large, five-lobed and roundish, with a smooth, flat, hairless flap. The U-shaped petiolar sinus has overlapping edges and a slightly hairless lower side. The large, cylindrical-pyramidal, winged quite sparse cluster carries a large, oval or sub-oval, averagely resistant berry. The skin is pruinose and of purplish-black colour. The pulp is firm with a sweet, neutral taste.
Training system and pruning:
it requires expanded training systems such as “tendone”, “pergola” or lyre. Careful green pruning, sucker removal and leaf thinning are required to standardize the coloration process of the grape and to accumulate a satisfactory amount of sugar.
Susceptibility to diseases and adverse conditions:
everage. It has an evident incompatibility with the rootstocks 140Ru, 779P and Kober 5BB.
Overall rating:
a good-looking cluster, especially for its purplish-black colour; it has found excellent reception on the different markets. Great resistance to transport.
Clones in propagation:
Michele Palieri VCR453, CRSA229.
