Espadeiro
Variety grown in the north of Portugal (Minho), different from the Spanish variety. It has a large, medium-compact cluster and a medium-large, spherical berry. Vine of high vigour, it has a medium-late bud-burst period and is moderately susceptible to major diseases. This is a productive variety, with late ripening period. It produces slightly acidic wines, with fresh bouquet and not very rich in sugar. Suitable for production of red and medium or slight aged wines, especially blended with other varieties such as Vinhao.
