Lacrima
Lacrima is a black grape variety from the Marche Region, grown exclusively in some hilly areas of the Province of Ancona), precisely in the area of Morro d’Alba and neighboring municipalities. From this cultivar we get DOC wine «Lacrima di Morro d’Alba».

Budburst period: early.
Ripening period: medium.
Yield: average and inconstant.
Ampelographic characters:
bud with semi-open apex, green in color with reddish streaks. Leaf of medium size, pentagonal, five-lobed, with an open V-shaped petiolar sinus, dark green in color. Cluster of medium size, elongated, pyramidal, winged, sparse. Medium-sized berry, spheroid, with a thick and averagely pruinose skin, blue-black in color. Soft and juicy pulp with a special flavor.
Cultural aptitudes:
cultivar of remarkable vigor.
Training system and pruning:
it adapts well to the temperate climates of the Marche coast. It does not show disaffinity problems with commonly used rootstocks. However, due to the reduced longevity of the plant and the excess of induced vigor, grafting on 140Ru and 1103P is not recommended.
Sensitivity to diseases and adversities:
it is particularly affected by botrytis attacks and spider mites, while it does not show any particular sensitivity to other fungal diseases and insects.
Enological potential:
used exclusively for production of still wines. It is rarely vinified in purity, but if it is, it provides a wine of a beautiful deep ruby red color, with a full vinous aroma, dry flavor, good alcohol content, balanced acidity and tannins, full-bodied, pleasant. Suitable for moderate aging.
