Fleurtai®
White cultivar from the cross Tocai Friulano x 20-3 (code UD. 34-111).
Bud-burst period: early.
Flowering time: everage.
Ripening time: early.
Yield: more than medium.
Ampelographic characters:
the mature leaf characters are similar to the Tocai Friulano parent. Average or medium-high size conical clusters, tendentially compact with two medium-sized wings. The berry is median-to-small with elliptical shape. Thin skin with golden-green coloured light pruinosity. Soft pulp with neutral flavour.
Cultural aptitude:
vigorous grape with semi-upright or drooping growth habit. It requires green pruning to thin the canopy
Trellising and pruning:
adaptable to different trellis and pruning systems but performs best on the Guyot-type trellis.
Resistance to diseases and adverse conditions:
excellent resistance to downy (Rpv 12) and powdery (Ren 3) mildew. Reduced sensitivity to botrytis and anthracnose. Good winter hardiness with resistance up to -23°C.
Enological potential:
sugar accumulation is good with average acidity. The aromatic profile shows a good intensity of volatiles with notes of white flowers as well as glycosides providing notes of pear and almond which are typical of the parent Tocai Friulano. The aromatic ampleness is mostly due to fruity and spicy aromas, which were greatly appreciated during the sensorial analysis. It is suitable for the production of young wines or wines with short periods of refining.
