Chenin
Variety of French origin (Val de Loire) currently widely cultivated in Argentina, Chile, California, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. The cluster is medium-large and compact. The berry is medium-sized and ovoid-shaped. This highly vigorous vine has an early budburst period. Is very susceptible to botrytis, powdery mildew and wood diseases, whereas the susceptibility to downy mildew is normal. It is suitable for different training systems and pruning. Vine of good yield, it has a medium ripening period, and produces wines with great acidity, fine with very interesting citrusy and honey notes. Depending on the type of soil or processing, it can produce dry, sparkling (in sandy soils with early harvesting) or structured and liqueur wines (in clay-calcareous soils and dried grapes).
